Uncle Lou’s Bio Investment Initiative. Turning from “waste” to “alternative resources” is a lifestyle. #stopearthzits

“Waste” – previously known as all things that go into a dustbin, then shipped to a landfill, and left to wait many many years to somehow not be a problem anymore. (How food got put into the same category I do not understand.)

  • Simply placing appropriate containers at strategic places will cause a 180’ shift in the outcome.

“Alternative Resource” – many packaging materials such as plastic, cardboard, and steel are easily recycled and such is not a waste anymore, but a resource to be used. Rotten food can be composted through the work of worms.

  • What is important is to keep the alternative food resource and the other separated for ease of handling.

Water being the most neglected resource and “waste” being the biggest bad influencer, we work to go to the source for a lasting positive impact. But not to get all manufacturers globally to change to a bio degradable packaging that will break down in nature, this is not a lasting, obtainable, or good idea.

What is a good idea is getting in contact with us at Uncle Lou’s to see how you can today ensure you are being a positive impact in regards to the alternative resources you generate! Or schedule a meeting with us at the Pretoria Boeremark 07:00 Saturday mornings, in Silverton.

Currently we at Uncle Lou’s go to the sources of “waste” generators, we place drums and buckets down for them. They put all their food waste into these drums and the cleaned packaging materials into another bin. These are then graded and allocated to a suitable use for them. Over 80% of the wood-be rubbish in the landfill are now allocated to be recycled through an appropriate manner.

So do not be a box, be lekker, when you braai, wash out your plastic bag before placing it into your dustbin to be sorted by the ladies at the end of the line. For your food waste, either compost it at your space in an appropriate manner, or deposit your food bucket at one of our convenient locations. For the other almost 20% we need to have meetings.

Convenient Locations

How the drop off works

You need to place all food scraps into a freezable container such as an old bread bag or ice cream container, freeze the content, deliver it to one of the locations to be placed into a drum, without the plastic container accompanying it, this you can rinse and use again. Our pick up days are Mondays and Fridays; we recommend you deliver your pig waste either Sundays or Thursdays. All food and garden waste allowed.Imagine having a dustbin that never smells or leaks, this is a dream I believe we collectively can achieve.

Other ways to help

We do ask for monetary donations as well, as driving to all the places take up some time and petrol.

Also we would like to employ more people to help us clean up the sources of alternative waste, so a monthly donation gets us to employ a person who in change can feed his family.

Goed Gaaf
